US and Irish medical machine firm Medtronic and the College of Galway have launched their Medical System Prototype Hub, a specialist facility designed to help the medtech ecosystem, STEM engagement and analysis.

Improvement of the hub, which belongs to the college’s new Expertise Companies Directorate, is a part of a five-year, €5m signature innovation partnership between Medtronic and the college. 

Professor David Burn, the president of the college, mentioned: “The launch of the Medical System Prototype Hub at College of Galway marks a vastly vital milestone in our signature partnership with Medtronic, nevertheless it additionally sends a powerful message to all these within the sector and all those that are driving innovation.

The Medical System Prototype Hub varieties a part of the Institute for Well being Discovery and Innovation, which was established on the college in 2024.
