Alibaba DAMO Academy Launches XuanTie C950 CPU for Massive AI Fashions

Alibaba DAMO Academy has unveiled its newest flagship processor, the XuanTie C950, on the 2026 RISC-V Summit.

Constructed on a 5nm course of and operating at as much as 3.2 GHz, the chip achieved a SPECint2006 rating above 70, setting a brand new efficiency file for RISC-V CPUs.

Chief Scientist Meng Jianyi described it because the highest-performing RISC-V CPU globally, delivering greater than 3 times the efficiency of its predecessor, the C920. The chip is designed for purposes together with cloud computing, generative AI, robotics, and edge computing.

Leveraging the open-source RISC-V structure, the C950 integrates a proprietary AI acceleration engine and natively helps massive fashions reminiscent of Qwen3 and DeepSeek V3, every with a whole lot of billions of parameters.

On the occasion, Chinese language Academy of Engineering academician Ni Guangnan stated RISC-V now accounts for roughly 25% of the worldwide processor market, signaling a shift away from the long-standing x86-Arm duopoly.

Alibaba DAMO Academy has launched greater than 10 XuanTie processors so far, powering almost 1,000 units throughout sectors together with servers, robotics, and electrical automobiles.
