Amazon introduced on January 28 that it’ll lay off roughly 16,000 staff worldwide, marking its second main spherical of job cuts inside three months, following the elimination of 14,000 positions in October 2025.

Posts on Chinese language social media declare that Amazon’s Beijing workplace might face layoffs of as much as 50%, with some groups reportedly being totally disbanded, although the corporate has not formally confirmed these figures.

In an official weblog put up, Beth Galetti, Senior Vice President of Folks Expertise and Know-how at Amazon, mentioned the layoffs are meant to “strengthen the corporate” by lowering administration layers, rising possession, and eliminating forms.
