Aswan has been named the Growing-8 (D-8) Organisation for Financial Cooperation’s Tourism Metropolis of the 12 months for 2026 after securing the best variety of votes from member states on Monday, 2 February.

Based in 1997, the D-8 Organisation promotes financial cooperation amongst its members throughout a number of sectors, together with tourism. The group consists of Egypt, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey, representing a mixed inhabitants of greater than 1.2 billion folks.

The southern Egyptian metropolis gained the title for the second consecutive yr, competing in opposition to three different nominated cities from Azerbaijan, Iran, and Pakistan.
