Flutterwave, Africa’s largest funds infrastructure startup, has partnered with Yango, a ride-hailing and meals supply platform, to allow cashless fee choices for taxi rides and meals supply orders in Zambia.

The partnership will enable Yango customers to pay with financial institution playing cards processed by Flutterwave’s fee infrastructure, thereby lowering reliance on money and bettering the comfort of digital funds for patrons throughout the platform.

Yango, owned by UAE-based tech firm Yango Group, has been rising its footprint in Zambia’s mobility and meals supply market since its entry in March 2022.

“By integrating our fee infrastructure with Yango’s platform, we’re empowering Zambians with safe, handy fee choices that take away friction from on a regular basis transactions,” Iyembi Nkanza, Nation Head at Flutterwave, mentioned. “That is precisely the sort of innovation that drives monetary inclusion ahead.”

The transfer comes amid Zambia’s rising e-commerce adoption. In 2024, the nation’s e-commerce market generated $120 million in income, reflecting a 10-15% progress charge. Rising smartphone penetration charge and regular progress in cell cash utilization are altering shopper behaviour in city centres like Lusaka, as cell cash transactions exceeded K100 billion ($5.3 billion) in March 2025 alone.

The partnership helps Yango’s ambition to maneuver towards a predominantly cashless mannequin in Zambia, as its present cash-heavy operations typically face operational dangers.

“Partnering with Flutterwave permits us to strengthen our digital fee capabilities whereas supporting Zambia’s transition towards a extra digitally enabled financial system,” Kabanda Chewe, Yango Zambia Nation Head, mentioned.

Yango faces competitors from Bolt and Uber in Zambia, each of which have invested closely in digital fee choices. By bettering its fee stack, Yango positions itself extra competitively in a market the place customers are more and more chasing comfort. The corporate says it’s going to proceed increasing partnerships and rolling out new options to enhance buyer expertise.
