Nigeria’s telecom operators have quickly suspended SIM-related companies, together with new registrations, SIM swaps, Nationwide Identification Quantity registration (NIN), and cellular quantity portability, after the Nationwide Identification Administration Fee’s (NIMC) migration to a brand new identification verification platform.

The disruption, confirmed by the Affiliation of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), has left hundreds of thousands unable to entry important cellular companies. NIMC is shifting to a brand new platform developed by Blusalt Monetary Companies, a Nigerian fintech specialising in embedded monetary companies and digital infrastructure. Whereas officers say the system will improve the velocity and accuracy of identification verification in the long run, the speedy fallout threatens to delay digital inclusion and SIM compliance targets essential to telecom protection and monetary entry.

For now, Nigerians are being urged to stay affected person as authorities race to revive SIM registration and identification verification companies.
