MassRobotics hosted the inaugural Ladies in Robotics Gala on Saturday, October twenty first which celebrated the Robotics Medal recipient Dr. Nancy Amato ($50k prize) and Robotics Rising Star recipient Dr. Alyssa Pierson ($5k prize).
It was a night full of inspiration and recognition for the outstanding contributions of girls in robotics. The Ladies in Robotics gala, held on the Museum of Science, introduced collectively a various crowd of innovators, engineers, professors, college students, ecosystem contributors and fanatics.
The occasion was described as “the Oscars for Nerds,” that includes a pink carpet, black tie apparel and quite a few picture alternatives. And there have been nice additions to the occasion that will not be discovered on the Oscars equivalent to robots, together with Boston Dynamics AI Institute’s robotic canine drawing portraits, Pepper (dancing social humanoid robotic) and Ava Robotics’ telepresence robotic.

The occasion was a celebration of not simply the accomplishments of two extraordinary girls, Dr. Nancy Amato (Head of the Laptop Science Division and Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering on the College of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Dr. Alyssa Pierson (Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Boston College), but in addition a testomony to the continual strides being made on the planet of robotics. As MassRobotics continues to function a hub for innovation, collaboration and inspiration, the Inaugural Ladies in Robotics Gala exemplified the facility of recognizing and supporting the ladies who’ve made invaluable contributions to the robotics area.
Particular due to MassRobotics board members Daniela Rus, Director of MIT’s Laptop Science and Synthetic Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) and Tye Brady, Amazon Robotics Chief Technologist, for pioneering the thought to have each the award and the Gala to honor the influence of girls in robotics.
Thanks to the sponsors of the occasion: Amazon Robotics and Massachusetts Know-how Collaborative. Moreover, we want to thank Amazon Robotics for sponsoring our Jumpstart Fellowship alumni to attend the occasion. 4 of the Jumpstart college students had the chance to talk throughout our program. It has been superb to see them develop into the younger assured girls which might be at present.

College students from our Jumpstart Fellowship Program kicked off the occasion and represented our first three cohorts of scholars.
Thanks to the MassRobotics workers for guaranteeing a very particular night of celebrating essential accomplishments.
